The Highfield qualifications sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) in Britain.

Our QCTO Occupational Certifictates consist of :
  • Occupational Certificate: Chef
  • Occupational Certificate: Cook
Occupational Certificate: Chef
  • SAQA ID 101697
  • Level 5, 554 Credits
A 3 year learning period followed by a trade test.
  • 18 months will be spent with the Training Provider comprises of Knowledge & Practical Modules and
  • 18 months in industry comprises of Workplace Experience Modules in industry.
From a Food Handler/Kitchen Hand to a COOK
This qualification  provides for a direct pathway from entry as a Cook to qualifying as a Chef.
It has two part qualifications that create a vertical pathway to cook, namely Kitchen Hand and Food Handler.

A clear career pathway exists between Cook and Chef.
Once qualified as a Cook, it provides the opportunity to study further for the Chef qualification, even at a later stage. 

 
From a Kitchen Hand/Cook to a CHEF
A learning pathway is embedded within the qualification which will allow for a learner to work as a Kitchen-hand/Commis during their first and second year, Commis/Cooks during their second and third year to qualify as a Chef.

Once qualified as a Chef, a further career advancement is as a Sous Chef and/or Executive chef.

These occupations are registered designations with the Professional Body, the South African Chefs Association (SACA).
